I grew up in Washington Heights and Inwood, moved out and then moved back to the neighborhood because its home to me and also the rent I pay doesn’t give me a shoebox like other parts of Manhattan. Washington Heights is a predominant

Oh the Holiday Hangover

Oh the Holidays, its the most wonderful time of the year…. and a time where you can get the most brutal hangovers. Lots of food and spiked egg nog is a recipe for a good time but a terrible next day. Here is some stuff I like to do to speed up recovery or make

Shake Shack

I want to start off by saying that I don’t like chain restaurants but when you have one that uses fresh ingredients and doesn’t make you feel like your ordering a frozen disc then I’m all for it. There are a few Shake Shacks around the city and the wife had been asking to go

Concrete Bar NYC

As I venture out into the cold in search of cheap alcohol and good food I stumble upon Concrete Restaurant and Bar with the familiar A-Sign hand written saying happy hour. I thought why not and I set into this spot and find no hostess or bartender so I head to the upstairs area and

Aussie style in NYC

Eating and drinking in Midtown can be rather expensive especially in a group setting so when I find a place with a happy hour (or 3) I’m more inclined to check that out after work. The Australian in Midtown has a happy hour with 4 to 6 dollar beers and food menu that fits that

The feel and smell of Florida

When I think of Florida I think of places like Casey Key Fish House that are right on the water that give you a no shoes, no shirt, no problem kind of attitude. All I want is a tropical drink, fresh fish and fried sides served in a plastic basket and this place delivers. Pull

Veg out with my Basa

Sarasota is such a quiet town and is always a great place to visit on my downtime. It’s a great place to get fresh fish so I try and grab some as much as possible down there. Hungry for lunch my wife and father in law took me to one of his favorite local eateries

Get drunk for the holidays the Spanish way

I like drinking with the family during the holidays. It’s always a fun time and a great way to bond with everybody which is important. As time goes on you have less time with family with everything going on in life so its nice to just kick back, give gifts and of course drink. I’m

A throwback to 1905

I’ve been going to the Columbia Restaurant when I visit my inlaws for a few years now. If I fly in early to Sarasota that day I go that day and if I take an evening flight then I go in the next day. It’s like clockwork and its the perfect way to start your
