A throwback to 1905

I’ve been going to the Columbia Restaurant when I visit my inlaws for a few years now. If I fly in early to Sarasota that day I go that day and if I take an evening flight then I go in the next day. It’s like clockwork and its the perfect way to start your vacation. Open air seating, old school table side service and warm crusty Cuban bread waiting for you. They are known for their 1905 salad and I really can’t describe it any better then the restaurant themselves so its “Crisp Iceberg lettuce with julienne of baked ham, natural Swiss cheese, tomato, olives, grated Romano cheese and our famous garlic dressing”. You can have it as is, or with turkey or shrimp and also as a side to another dish. I chose to use it as a side dish to accompany their Mahi Mahi Cubana.

Great googly moogly is that a great meal. The fish is perfectly cooked topped off with onions, mushrooms, peppers, cheese and placed on that toasted Cuban bread. Can’t wait to head back down there. I’m salivating thinking about it.
